Happy National Yoga Month + Small Ways to Practice Every Day | September Newsletter


Hi Reader,

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how yoga shows up even when we don’t feel like unrolling the mat. Some days, I don’t want to flow through a whole sequence...and that’s okay. Yoga doesn’t have to look like a full class. It can be as simple as one breath, one pause, or one mindful moment.

And since September is National Yoga Month, it feels like the perfect reminder: yoga isn’t just about big practices, it’s also about the little ones you return to throughout your day. Recommitting to your practice doesn’t have to mean more time or effort - it can mean remembering that yoga meets you where you are, always.

Here are some of the ways I’ve been practicing yoga on those “not today” days:

✨ 3 deep breaths at my desk
✨ Shoulder stretch while my coffee brews
✨ Choosing rest instead of pushing through
✨ Listening to the sound of water, lake, river, fountain, or even the shower (nada yoga)
✨ Pausing on a walk to notice one tree in detail (dharana = focus)
✨ Standing tall, feeling my feet on the earth (mountain pose, no mat)
✨ Watching a candle, campfire, or the sunrise/sunset (trataka = eye meditation)
✨ Lying down before bed, one hand on the belly, one on the heart (body scan + yoga nidra seeds)

It’s been grounding for me to remember that yoga isn’t just about poses, but also about how we move through our day and the little ways we reconnect with ourselves. Maybe one of these practices will land with you this month, too.


Mini Reset Practice for You
If your mornings feel a little rushed, try this simple breath to start softer:

Inhale for 4
Exhale for 6
Repeat for a few minutes

Extending the exhale signals to your body that it’s safe to relax, setting a calmer tone for the day.
