Hi friends, Lately, the phrase “do it scared” has been echoing in my mind. I was reminded of it after talking to a friend this weekend, and it’s something that’s been quietly guiding me. It reminds me that even when I feel nervous or unsure, I can still take the next step. I can be scared and brave at the same time. Honestly, most brave people probably are. Around the same time, I came across something on TikTok that led me to The Four Agreements (I just requested it from my library!). It was about one of the teachings: Be impeccable with your word—but the creator called out a twist that really stuck with me: Be impeccable with your word to yourself. How often do we keep promises to others, but quietly break the ones we make to ourselves? Last weekend, I wanted to go on a hike to see the fall colors, but my bf was sick and no one else was free that day to join. Old me might’ve scrapped the plan—but instead, I packed my bag, grabbed Finn (my dog), and went anyway. It was just us (and others on the trail), the trees, and the crisp October air. And it felt soooo good to follow through on something I’d promised myself. I did it scared, but I did it. Practices for you:💡 Try This: A Grounding Practice for Courage When fear or hesitation creeps in, the goal isn’t to push it away—it’s to give it space and stay connected. Try this before something that feels new, uncertain, or a little scary:
This gentle balance, of presence in the body and softness in the breath, is the same one we practice on the mat. If you ever feel stuck, overwhelmed, or in need of grounding, here are a couple of flows you can do anytime: Try one when you feel that old familiar tightness in your chest, or your mind starts racing. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just movement + breath can shift so much. 🌾 Where You Can Find Me This Month🧘🏽♀️ Online Yoga — Tuesdays at 6PM MT: A 60-minute slow flow designed to ground, stretch, and reset your nervous system. https://www.yogimaria.com/online-yoga/ 🌀 Affirmation of the Month:
“Even when I’m scared, I can still move forward.”
Bravery doesn’t always look bold or loud. Sometimes it’s quiet—packing your bag, showing up for yourself, taking one small step at a time. That, too, is yoga.
